      The first chessboard was a successful proof-of-concept, proving I could make one and that it would appeal to others.  As it turned out, I sold it to a customer who purchased it with intent to give it away as a wedding present.  Very cool!  
The Goblin Staff came about soon after I purchased an unusual walking staff make of a twisted piece of kudzu vine that originally grew in the backyard of the maker.  I looked at it and had a deep, powerful feeling it wasn't done...and it's still not done, but it's getting there.
